Ex-VOIVOD Frontman To Appear On Next BORISLAV MITIC CD
October 28, 2002Former VOIVOD/current E-FORCE frontman Eric Forrest and E-FORCE drummer Louis Levesque (ex-GENETIC CONTROL) are collaborating with Yugoslav guitarist Borislav Mitic (currently residing in Montreal) on the latter's second solo CD, tentatively due sometime in 2003.
"As you may know, I am [signed to the] Shrapnel Records label for which I did an instrumental guitar album [entitled 'Fantasy']," Mitic explained to BLABBERMOUTH.NET when asked how the collaboration came about. "The follow-up should have been vocal-oriented with Chris Logan (MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP) on vocals. That didn't come through regarding Chris's personal situation.
"While in search for a new singer, I decided to get back to instrumental guitar works once again. I also decided to get a new line up ready for promo performances (once the album would be finished). I was already jamming with Eric Forrest (bass) and Louis Levesque (drums) and it just naturally evolved to doing my solo stuff with them. Incidentally, after a few jams it turned out that Eric also has a style of singing (different than what he did with VOIVOD or E-FORCE) that would fit the vocal project I had in mind. So right now there is a lot of creative energy going back and forth as we are starting to work on that project too.
"The album is in an early phase and there is no title as of yet. It should feature vocal and some instrumental tracks. The direction could be described as 'walking the line between power rock and progressive metal' but with a fresh approach. There will be a lot of elements and influences that will come as a surprise to the fans of our previous works and that's the most exciting thing about it. Eric Forrest will do the vocal and bass parts, Louis Levesque will be featured on drums and I will be responsible for all the electric and acoustic guitars and some bass guitar parts. Once the album is finished we will shop for a label starting with Shrapnel Records."
